Vitamin D, which is also known as “sunshine” vitamin, has an important role in defining the health of a person. In earlier days, it was believed that Vitamin D only helps in strengthening the health of bone and calcium absorption. However, recent findings and researches have proved that Vitamin D is very important to have a healthy body and life. In general, adequate level of Vitamin D is necessary for all age group of humans from male to female and from an infant to the old age people. However, it is important to understand that human body has the capability to synthesis Vitamin D on its own. But, it requires the adequate exposure to sunlight.

Moreover, the requirement of Vitamin D can be fulfilled from the food such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, sardines, fatty fish, egg yolks and milk. Many times, a person is recommended to take the supplement medications to fulfill the requirement of Vitamin D. The deficiency of Vitamin D can cause many diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, thyroid diseases, lung infection, prostate cancer, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, osteoporosis, etc. In women, especially at a post menopausal stage they are prone to the osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. The chance of such bone diseases can be reduced effectively, if the adequate amount of Vitamin D is present in the blood stream.


Constant fatigue in women is also a sign of deficiency of Vitamin D. As the Vitamin D help in regulating the secretion of various hormone and neurological system. It induces the hormonal production and metabolic activities and improves the overall health during the menopause condition. Moreover, Vitamin D effectively reduces the cancer in an older woman. Some studies concluded that the presence Vitamin D in adequate amount reduces the 45% chances of breast cancer and ovarian cancer risk in women. Moreover, bacterial vaginosis, which is a pregnancy related infection, can also be eradicated by increasing the Vitamin D level in the body. A pregnant woman who has adequate level of Vitamin D also ensures the health of infant. It reduces the risk of rickets, lung infection, etc.

In men, Vitamin D also helps in strengthening of bones and reduces the chance of arthritis and osteoporosis problems. Moreover, Vitamin D inhibits the occurrence of prostate cancer and colon cancer. Vitamin D also plays a key role in reducing the risk of heart stroke and other heart related diseases like the inflammation inside the arteries. Renal failure and some kidney diseases in men are also associated with the deficiency of Vitamin D in the body. In children, the adequate of Vitamin D level in blood stream reduces the risk of bone related disease known as rickets.

Moreover, the presence of Vitamin D in adequate level also prevents the occurrence of allergy and provides strength to the immune system. It effectively reduces the risk of diabetes type-I in both infants and children. Moreover, the common flu and asthma problems can be reduced with the intake of adequate Vitamin D supplement. Moreover, during the old age people are prone to get affected by the mental health problem like depression. Such problems including the bone related problems are commonly found in old age people. These health problems can be effectively reduced with increasing the level of Vitamin D in blood stream.
